Best of the Box Sets

Sunday 1 October 2017

With winter approaching, and the cold weather and dark evenings slowly rolling in, it's the perfect time to snuggle up by the fire, in your PJs with a cosy blanket and binge watch TV shows. At least, that's what I do!

Anyone who knows me, knows I love a good Netflix marathon session, watching box sets in bed with popcorn, so I thought I'd outline my top 5 and explain why you either need to watch them or rewatch them!

i. Gossip Girl

This is my all time favourite TV programme. I have seen them all at least 5 times, and I still want to rewatch it. If you haven't seen it/ heard of it, it is a TV show which follows the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite (to quote Gossip Girl herself). Gossip Girl is a website which tracks their lives, and mainly is out to destroy them all at various points. It's so addictive and there's never been a romance like Blair and Chuck's. If you watch any of these 5, this is the one you want to watch.

ii. Gilmore Girls (The Original AND the Revival)

I was pretty young when Gilmore Girls originally came out, so I only watched it when the revival was due to drop. I wanted to watch it all so I could watch the much hyped revival knowing what had happened. I fell in love with Stars Hollow, Rory and Lorelai's lives and the romances that they both had throughout the 7 seasons. This is a proper throwback to the early 2000s and the revival is equally amazing and well put together. I still crave more closure and still hold out in hope there will be another revival... but I may be waiting a while. Just putting this out here too, I heart Rory and Logan forever and ever.

iii. Pretty Little Liars

This was a programme which I put off watching for ages because I thought it would be too scary and properly not my thing. However, on Daisy's recommendation, I began watching it this summer. I was so addicted I watched all 7 seasons within a month. Although in places I did get a little frightened and had to close my eyes, stick my hands over my ears and say la-la-la-la to myself, I absolutely loved it. The way it was put together and all the twists and turns in it, was incredible and definitely worth a watch.

iv. Orange Is The New Black

OITNB is one of those much hyped TV programmes which I put off watching because everyone who was anyone was talking about it- and prison drama didn't seem like my bag. My god, how wrong I was. I absolutely LOVED it. I cried when Flaritza got split up, in fact, I cried quite a lot. It was so fantastic and I cannot wait for season 6 to drop. PLEASE HURRY UP!

v. One Tree Hill

It's been a couple of years since I last watched One Tree Hill (definitely due a rewatch!) but I was obsessed with OTH for a whole summer inbetween uni years. I definitely cried and laughed out loud at different bits and it's amazing that it spanned so long. You have the main characters in school to start with, ending with them all married and grown up! Definitely worth a watch.

You can probably tell from the above I'm a bit of a romantic comedy ish type. Does anyone else love these TV shows? Can anyone recommend some others? I'd love to hear from you.
