Happy Christmas and Happy New Year
Sunday, 22 December 2019 • Lifestyle
A quick post from me, I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas period and New Year! I won't be posting anything from now until 1st January 2020. Make sure to have lots of mince pies, all the prosecco and more importantly lots of PIGS IN BLANKETS. I hope everyone has a wonderful festive period! I'll most likely be active on Social Media but on the blogging front, over out until the New Year...
Happy Christmas and have a fantastic New Year! See you in 2020!

All about those chips, 'bout those chips, no trouble!
Monday, 16 December 2019 • Food and Drink
I’m alllll about the potato. To quote Samwise Gamgee (cheeky LOTR reference- nerd alert!), you can ‘boil em, mash em, stick em in a stew’ and in particular, and I must say my favourite use of the potato, make chips!
Schwartz recently sent me their chip spice seasoning and I was absolutely buzzing to give it a go. It is a blend of paprika and onion with a hint of garlic and smokiness which pairs perfectly with potatoes. Some of you may know, I used to live in Hull, and chip spice is THE thing to have on your chips. I’d not had it before moving to Hull- sacrilege!
One of my favourite guilty pleasure meals is chilli cheese fries, and the paprika and onion chip seasoning couldn’t compliment a chilli more! So I decided to make the dirtiest chilli cheese fries known to man (but alas, I realised part way through cooking that I had no cheese so reallyyyy dirtiest chilli (sans le) cheese fries). If you’d like to enjoy the BEST chilli cheese fries... follow my simple steps to concoct your own!
TO MAKE THE CHILLI:
I'm not going to lie, I don’t have my own recipe for chilli. Well, I do, but it’s pretty bog standard, makes a decent chilli but nothing to write home about. For a more spice and herb infused chilli, for when you have a few hours, I follow a classic Jo Pratt recipe.
TO MAKE THE CHIPS:
Now, this is a labour of love. I love chips (if I hadn’t already said enough!) so I'm careful in my preparation and selection of potato. I do favour a Maris Piper when it comes to chips, so I opted for Maris Piper potato.
I use a Tefal Actifry for my chips, it's quick and easy and you get perfectly fluffy chips with minimal oil (#health). I peel my potatoes, and then using a chipper (yes, I have a specific tool to make crinkle cut chips but a knife will suffice for straight cut chips!) I cut my chips to size. I pop them in my Actifry for 50 minutes with a good shake of the Schwartz seasoning and a tablespoon of oil, and bob's your uncle! Perfect chips, every damn time.
Alternatively, if you don't have an actifry, pop them on a baking tray at about 200 degrees (fan 180) for 45-50 minutes with a good glug of oil and don't forget that chip seasoning!
Molly’s Top Tip! I like to sprinkle some of the spice over my chips pre-cooking and then extra post cooking. ALL ABOUT MAXIMISING THAT CHIP POTENTIAL.
TOPPINGS:
Now, this is where your artistic license can take over. GO MAD- I like a mix of toppings- usually I opt for a cheese combo (red leicester, mozzarella, cheddar, all grated of course), guacamole, sour cream, fresh spring onions and fresh coriander. I went pretty standard this time post cheese debacle with just sour cream and fresh coriander.
If you fancy some of this wondrous seasoning, pop on down to your local Tesco and pick some up. It retails for £1.60 which is a good price for the seasoning of gods.
Have you had chip seasoning before? Are you chip mad like me? I'd love to know!

Greyhound Inn, Corfe Castle: A Review
Saturday, 7 December 2019 • Food and Drink
A few weeks ago, Emma, Rachael, Amy and I were invited to try out the Greyhound Inn at Corfe Castle. I'd never been to Corfe Castle prior to this evening but my god, even in the dark and lit up, the ruins are picturesque!
We all met, went in and were greeted by the manager who was very friendly and welcoming. We were shown to our table and give the wine list to peruse... my kind of first course! We settled on a bottle of New Zealand Aroha Bay Sauvignon Blank to share. We then got down to selecting our food.
As usual, I was stuck between two starters but luckily Rachael was on hand to share with me. We chose the Morroccan Lamb Kofta skewers which were served on a chargrilled flatbread with garlic pickle on a super grain salad and one of their special starters, the tempura prawns. I really enjoyed the prawns which were served with a sweet chilli sauce. The batter was light and they weren't overly greasy unlike a lot of tempura dishes. The koftas were nicely spiced and the garlic pickle was out of this world, but unfortunately the koftas were slightly overdone making them quite tough. Sad, because every other element was delicious!
For main, I was SO HAPPY to see bangers and mash on the specials menu, so I opted for this. I have a real obsession with mash at the moment, and let me tell you, this did NOT disappoint! The sausages were good and tasted like they were made from high quality pork. One of the sausages had been kofta-ized (i.e. slightly overdone) but this was only one end of a single sausage (there were three so a fab sized portion!).
This however did not stop me from choosing a little dessert. I chose a scoop of honeycomb hash ice cream which was a perfect ending to the meal.
Overall, despite kofta gate, it was a really good meal. The company was great, the food was good, the wine was fantastic and the views were picturesque! I'd definitely go again as the burgers sounded amazing, as did the buddah bowl. The presentation was incredible and it seemed to be fairly reasonable in terms of price. The service was also excellent, every member of staff was attentive!
Have you ever been to the Greyhound Inn? I'd love to know!

PS. The lovely Greyhound Inn provided this meal free of charge but all views and opinions are my own.
Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree.. How lovely are your branches?! Pines and Needles Tree Review
Wednesday, 4 December 2019 • Lifestyle
So, on Sunday, my sister and I went on a Christmas tree retrieval mission!
I had a quick google of the opening hours and was delighted to see that they have long weekend hours, perfect for an early bird like me who works during the week! We set off from Salisbury at about 7.20am and arrived in Boscombe for just after 8am.
We parked up a few streets aways and wandered down to the pop up shop. We knew we wanted a 7ft tree and we also knew we wanted a Nordmann Fir non drop tree. I'd like to note, we knew this through a mixture of google and my Dad's previous years of Christmas tree buying. My sister and I on the otherhand have absolutely zero idea and couldn't tell you a Nordmann Fir from a Fraser Fir. Luckily, the gentleman running the Bournemouth faction of Pines and Needles was super knowledgeable and friendly! He was happy to unwrap and show us the different trees.
For a small shop there were so many trees, it was quite impressive! We selected our perfect Christmas tree and then it was on to wrapping the tree up and sawing off a bit of the base. Apparently this is a practice undertaken to keep the tree fresher for longer.
Within 5 minutes our beautiful tree was wrapped up. The gentleman (I'm the worst with names!) offered to help bring it to the car, but my sister is strong and she threw it over her shoulder and we were on our way! Although, it much be said that fitting a 7ft tree in a small Corsa is no easy feat... I had a little tree friend sat on my shoulder the whole drive home!
Pines and Needles are British Christmas tree specialists with locations all over the south and London and you can even order online (super convenient)! They sell Scottish grown Christmas trees exclusively, which are predominantly Nordmann Fir (famed for being non drop). Prices range from £39.95 for a 3ft Nordmann Fir to £199.95 for a 12ft Nordmann Fir, which I believe to be fairly standard for real Christmas trees.
Our tree is gorgeous, it's bushy, strong and green. We've decorated it with a silver and white theme and we love it. In my opinion, nothing beats a real Christmas tree and I'd certainly purchase from Pines and Needles next year as the customer service was great and we've got a high quality tree!
Do you have a real Christmas tree? What are your favourite themes for a Christmas tree? I'd love to know!
XOXO Molly
PS. Pines and Needles gifted me this tree, however all opinions and views are my own.
Food to Fork: Gulliver's Farm x The Old Thatch
Sunday, 1 December 2019 • Food and Drink
Last Wednesday I was invited to attend a collaboration between Gulliver's Farm and The Old Thatch called Farm to Fork. I jumped at the chance to attend, as the premise is something I fully support. The idea behind the evening was that Gulliver's Farm, a social enterprise for those with learning difficulties and disabilities, would supply all the produce, and also the hospitality in conjunction with The Old Thatch.
Gulliver's Farm itself consists of four main areas, the Farm, The Market Garden, A Deli Kitchen and the Farm Ship. All of the produce served was both organic and biodynamic. The meat used also had high animal welfare standards and they feed grass exclusively.
Emma arrived at my house, and we drove across to The Old Thatch, which is only in Wimborne (about 15 minutes away!) and met up with Rachael. We grabbed a glass of wine (small, of course!) and took in the atmosphere. It was buzzing! There were so many people, and live music! We were then shown to our table where we were sat with the parents of one of the lads who works on the farm, and also some of the guys and girls who work on the farm. It was fantastic to get to know them! They were so knowledgable about the produce which adorned the tables (squash, carrots, pumpkins etc) and I really felt as if I learnt something from them.
We were first served bread and butter whilst we awaited the kick off of the food- I'm always about the bread and butter. It was good bread and good butter.. what more can I say?!
For amuse bouche, we were served 'Simon's Welsh Rarebit' gougeres, which were essentially a savoury profiterole. Choux pastry mixed with cheese. DELISH. I love anything cheesy, and anything with pastry.. so right up my street!
Next up, we had starters. The starter was a pumpkin and sage ravioli with a chestnut emulsion and basil oil. I have a confession, I'd never eaten pumpkin before this evening! I'd carved them for Halloween of course, but never actually eaten pumpkin. I loved the pasta, it was cooked perfectly al dente, the chestnut emulsion and basil oil was a great combo and I actually enjoyed the pumpkin and sage filling- although I'm not sure it would be my first choice...
Then it was onto the main course. Sirloin of organic beef, leeks, onion and madeira jus. The beef was cooked fantastically, a medium rare which is what I'm all about. However, THE MASH. I am all about that mash. It was creamy, it was luscious and quite frankly I could've eaten a vat of it. I'm literally dribbling at my keyboard. I also enjoyed the jus, leeks and onion- an all round all rounder for me!
We had a brief interlude between mains and desserts where we have a good opportunity to chat and socialise!
Then it was time for dessert- my favourite course of this meal. I've always loved an apple crumble. My mum makes a superb apple crumble, I have to say. The apple crumple met my expectations- it was the perfect combination of sweet and sour with a crumbly oat topping and a delicious milk ice cream.
After dessert, we settled in for the key note speech which was given by Bethany Doran, a 2012 Paralympian. She explained her journey, beginning with the moment she found running, to the London 2012 Olympic Games, to her tough decision to leave the sport. She then explained how passionate she was in contributing to the farm and how important this social enterprise is to the local community. We also had a quick raffle, in which a hamper was won by an attendee!
Tickets for the evening were £45 per person which I think is fairly reasonable for a four course taster menu, entertainment and a key note speaker. They also catered for different dietary requirements which is super inclusive.
Thank you so much to both The Old Thatch and Gulliver's Farm for having me- I had a fantastic evening! Keep your eyes peeled.. because I'm sure due to the success of this evening there will definitely be another!
Have you ever been to a similar event? I'd love to know! Let me know in the comments.
XOXO Molly
PS. Please note, this evening was gifted to me very kindly, however, all views are my own.

Fed up of brassy blonde hair? I've got the perfect shampoo for you..
Sunday, 20 October 2019 • Lifestyle
I have been searching for a gentle but effective purple shampoo for my hair. Not an easy feat, as you may or may not know, I have extensions (which I've had for roughly six months now) and also peroxide blonde hair. However, my search has come to an end and I'm here to share the results with you!
You're not supposed to use strong purple shampoos on extensions, as it can damage them and they also may absorb the purple colour much more than your natural hair. However, as my hair is now 'lived in', and my natural hair was becoming slightly brassy, I reached out to my hairdresser (Paige from Legally Blondes in Salisbury) to help!
She recommended Fudge Clean Blonde Violet Toning Shampoo, so of course, I bought a bottle! It retails for £13.95 on Beauty Bay, which is think is fairly reasonable!
My hairdresser recommended that I 'water' the shampoo down. So, I mix the Fudge Clean Blonde Violet Toning Shampoo with my usual shampoo (the Resurrection Tigi shampoo!) on a 50:50 ratio. I've been doing this once a week, and it's kept my brassiness at bay without clinging to my extensions!
I'm really happy with the results, and I'm thrilled I've found a purple shampoo which works with my hair colour and extensions. Super happy with this result!
Do you use purple shampoo? What do you use? I'd love to know!
XOXO Molly
PS. Please be super super careful when using purple shampoo and please consult your hairdresser if you've got peroxide hair or extensions (or both) like mine!
Lush Silky Underwear Dusting Powder
Wednesday, 16 October 2019 • Lifestyle
I don't know about you guys but after a long relaxing bath, I like to feel silky smooth and be freshly scented. In the winter, I hate hate HATE putting moisturiser on my body. I just end up feeling cold (whilst it sinks in and dries) and sticky. Horrific.
Enter stage right the Lush Silk Underwear Dusting Powder. It's lightweight and smells incredible. Containing cocoa butter and cornstarch, it helps to moisturise my skin and achieve that silky smooth effect that I'm after. It is scented with a light jasmine and vetivert fragrance which is light and delicate enough not to be overpowering but is still noticeable. It also works well with my signature scent (Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel, don't you know!), and that is important as perfume isn't cheap! This product only contains 10 ingredients which are clearly listed, and less ingredients is great too!
It certainly is not the cheapest dusting power on the market, at £9 for 60g it makes it fairly expensive. However, in my opinion, it is worth the price tag as it ticks all the boxes that I'm looking to be ticked!
Lush is a brand known for being cruelty free and environmentally friendly which is definitely a plus in my book!
The lady in the shop also told me there's a tonne of exclusive dusting powder scents available online and their flagship London shop. Next time I'm in London, I will most definitely be headed there for a scentathon!
Have you tried Lush dusting powders before? Which one is your favourite? I'd love to know!

Dancing Moose, Salisbury: A Review on Breakfast
Sunday, 13 October 2019 • Food and Drink
Recently, the Dancing Moose, has opened in Salisbury. Although there's three other branches near me in Bournemouth, I regularly go back to my parents and go brunching. Out of the four weekends in September, I went for brunch three times at the Dancing Moose. I thought I'd review my overall experience, the food and the service!
Food: I've had three different dishes from the Breakfast menu; The B.A.E, the Little English and the Breakfast Hash with added Chorizo. All three used high quality tasting ingredients, and were all suitably sized portions. I think out of all three, my favourite was the Breakfast Hash with added Chorizo. I definitely think the food is great value for money!
Drinks: I recently began drinking coffee, and I must say their iced lattes are so good! They have an extensive soft drink menu. However, I do always browse the cocktail menu... some of them look insane! I really need to go with the girls for drinks!
Service: Each time I've been to the Dancing Moose, each 'Moosketeer' (as they call their waitresses and waiters!) has always been top-notch in their knowledge and recommendations. Service is always quick, efficient and I've never felt disappointed by the service received.
Overall Experience/ Atmosphere: It is sited in the old Bill's restaurant and the decor is fairly similar to Bills. They've extended the bar and modernised it. They aim for a relaxed, charismatic atmosphere. Each restaurant is locally unique and bonus, they're dog friendly! Overall, I routinely have a great experience at the Dancing Moose and I'd definitely recommend, if you're in the area, taking a visit!
I definitely will be giving the Dancing Moose a go for dinner, as their menu (check it out here) looks INCREDIBLE. Plus, as I said before, the cocktails also look insane!
Have you been to the Dancing Moose? What kind of experience did you have? I'd love to know!

My Favourite Cities That I've Visited
Wednesday, 9 October 2019 • Lifestyle
So this is a bit of a new type of post for me, I don't usually do the whole favourite this favourite whatever, but I thought I'd share my top 10 cities that I've been to and really fallen in love with! Travelling is one of my main passions, and I should really do more of it, but real life calls and travelling and exploring isn't always possible. I plan on using my annual leave much wiser next year, to maximise the time I can spend travelling. So without further ado, my top ten cities that I've visited are:
10. Belfast, Northern Ireland
It's been a while since I last visited Belfast. It's on my list of places to go back to. However, last time I went, I was at uni and on tour (with trampolining- the natural gymnast that I am LOL). I'm gutted as I missed out on key sights such as Titanic Belfast, Crumlin Road Gaol and The Giant's Causeway. I just fell in love with the city!
9. Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona will always be a special place for me, as I went twice whilst one of my best friends, Amy, lived there. Read my reviews here and here.
8. Las Vegas, United States
I only recently went to Las Vegas, but I loved the glitz and glamour of it all. I really enjoyed seeing the Grand Canyon, and appearing twice on stage with the Chippendales! I'd love to go back to make more memories! Read my review here.
7. Seoul, South Korea
I may have mentioned (just once or twice, lol) that I used to live in South Korea. Although I didn't spend much time in Seoul itself, the times I did go.. I loved it. Visiting the DMZ, was a huge eye opener, going to see the Black Eyed Peas with my family at the Olympic Park, staying at the Ritz Carlton in Gangnam (the place in which the song Gangnam Style was penned about).. so many good memories!
6. Queenstown, New Zealand
I loved Queenstown. My family and I did a four week tour of NZ when I was younger and we loved Queenstown. We went on the Shotover Jet a fair few times, it was so thrilling (we did it before Wills and Kate made it famous fyi, OG trendsettahs). Queenstown is lovely, and has some great restaurants!
5. Sydney, Australia
Sydney is another place I visited with my family. We stayed in the Blue Mountains, and popped down to Sydney a few times. It's a fab city filled with lots of remarkable things to see and do!
4. London, UK
London is just full of things to do. I used to live super close (35 mins by train), and I used to pop up most weekends. I love playing the tourist in London, seeing all the sights and doing touristy things. Plus, the restaurants are incredible and provide some of the best food in the world!
3. Shanghai, China
Shanghai is a magical place. Living behind the the big three buildings (whilst witnessing the fourth being built) which shape the Pu-Dong skyline was great. I was able to go clubbing at 16, with open bar being a mere tenner (shout out to Sky and Murals the best clubs about back then!) and the markets were brilliant. A fantastic life experience for me.
2. Salisbury, UK
Despite being Novichok hit and the centre stage for the worlds news outlets for a small while, my quaint little adopted hometown of Salisbury will always hold a special place in my heart. I love the quirkiness and artisan independent shops, restaurants and cafes and it's just a place which holds many memories for me!
1. Busan, South Korea
Busan has got to be my favourite place in the world. I essentially grew up there. We moved out when I was 10, and I got to watch the place evolve year on year (last time I visited was 2 years ago, when I was 24). When we first moved, it was much less developed, and it's now a buzzing metropolitan city! I love the fact you can be stood on Haeundae beach, staring at the mountains with the city to your right. It's incredible.
Have you been to any of these cities? What did you make of them? What is your favourite city in the world? I'd love to know!

Do Sleep Mists actually work?!
Sunday, 6 October 2019 • Lifestyle
I don't know about you, but I've seen sleep mists being talked about ALL over social media. I've been sleeping really crappily recently so I figured I had nothing to lose by ordering one.
I did some research and noticed that the This Works deep sleep pillow mist was most popular. I hopped onto ASOS, and low and behold they stocked it. THANK GOD FOR ASOS PREMIER. I ordered it at 9pm, and it was with me by the time I finished work the next day. Winner winner.
I ordered a set, which contained two products. A Stress Less oil which is enriched with lavender and the This Works Deep Sleep Pillow spray which contains lavender, camomile and vetivert (a grass) which is supposed to alleviate stress.
You're supposed to apply the oil to your pulse points to relax and clear you head, and lightly mist your pillow with the spray. So, I did just that.
I'm not sure if it was a placebo effect, but I genuinely had a great nights sleep. I didn't wake up (I usually wake up 3-4 times a night) and I didn't feel groggy when my alarm went off!
I have tried this several times now, and each time I've had a great nights sleep. For now, this definitely works for me! It's rather pricey at £22 (thank god for discount) but for a relaxed sleep, I think it's worth the money.
Have you tried a sleep mist before? Which brands have you tried? I'd love to know!

Battle of the Mascaras
Wednesday, 2 October 2019 • Lifestyle
So, this post was originally drafted waaaay back in October(ish) time LAST YEAR. I've wanted to write about mascaras for a while, because there are so many options out there with 101 brands promising different things. From "lengthening" to "thickening" to "curling"... (WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?) I just want pretty eyelashes which I can flutter at my will. So, I put SIX mascaras to the test. Personally, I look for a mascara which makes my eyelashes longer, thicker and more defined as I wear a lot of eyeliner and they need to stand out from that. I do think mascara choices can be pretty subjective as not everyone looks for the same end result.
I tried to take actual images of my lashes once done, but without an unattractive under my nostrils kind of situation, I couldn't actually get my mascara to show on camera. Soooo, you'll have to take my word for it. I tested three high end mascaras, and three budget mascaras. The results are in:
High End
Urban Decay Trouble Maker: Okay, I know people rave buuuut I found this one kind of clumpy. It definitely volumised and lengthened but to an extent where it was quite clumpy. With an eyelash brush and some work, it could be my dream mascara but alas I'm lazy and I like to apply and go. Retailing at £19.50, and adding in the eyelash brushes, it works out to be the cheapest 'high end' mascara.
Yves St Laurent Babydoll: Coming in as most expensive, this mascara retails for £26. I like it. It does everything I want it to do, sans clumps. However, the price puts me off a little. Considering there's a budget mascara which is essentially bang on the money (pardon the pun), I'd be reluctant to re-purchase.
Clinique High Impact: This mascara has to be my favourite of all six. Retailing for £20, it's fairly expensive but POW! It does everything I could ask of a mascara. As you can see, I only had a little tester tube. I have now purchased and invested in the full size mascara. It makes my eyelashes longer, thicker and more defined. My eyelashes aren't drowned out by my eyeliner and pow pow pow! This is my winner overall.
Budget
Bourjois Volume Reveal: I've used Bourjois as my choice 'drugstore' beauty brand since I was 13. They're Kohl eyeliner pencil will always be my one so I was interested to see how this one fared. My Auntie got me this as a stocking filler at Christmas and I cracked it open to give it a whirl. This retails for £10.99 on Boots. To my surprise, this does practically the same job as the Clinique. It made my lashes sliiiiightly clumpier but other than that, same result. Yes Bourjois! Smashing it!
Wonderland Lash Lengthening Mascara: Sadly, Wonderland appear to have gone out of business, which is sad because I actually really enjoyed using this mascara. It definitely lengthened my eyelashes and gave them definition. Unfortunately, no volumising properties. I can't give you a guesstimate price either, as this was gifted and the website is no more.
Etude House Oh! M' Eye Lash: KOREAN BEAUTY ALERT, I REPEAT KOREAN BEAUTY ALERT. I love Korean Beauty and couldn't wait to give this a try. I actually picked this up whilst in Busan, South Korea so it doesn't retail in the UK, but it's roughly £7. It promises volume and curl. I'd say it curls and lengthens but not so much on the volume front. Sad, but a good mascara for definition.
Verdict: Weirdly, I have a favourite from both high end and budget so I'm calling it as a tie. I love the Clinique High Impact mascara, because I truly think it has a high impact on my lashes and hits all the criterion that I look for. However, Bourjois Volumising Reveal does (very) nearly the same, but at a much smaller price tag (nearly half the price).
Which Mascara is your holy grail? I'd love to know!
XOXO Molly
PS. Please note, some of these products were gifted. All opinions are my own.
