As someone who is forever on a diet, I'm always on the look out for new ways to reduce the number of calories or carbs I am consuming. Which, for a pizza addict like me, is a small problem.
I was browsing Instagram and one of the sponsored posts flashed up as I was scrolling through my feed. It was Lo-Dough, which promised me a low carb pizza base at only 39 calories. I was skeptical, verrrrrrrry skeptical! Nonetheless, I ordered 2 bases to give them a go.
Firstly, I'd like to point out, these are by no means cheap. Traditional pizza bases in Tesco go for two for £1.70 but these work out at around £2.50 per base. So for the two, it was £5. Luckily, I was armed with a 10% off code, which reduced the cost to £4.50 for the two.
The postage however, was free, but it did take the specified 5 working days to get to me.
Once they had arrived however, the box was so cute! It kind of reminded me of a pizza box.
Upon unwrapping my Lo-dough there was a very doughy smell, which for me, would put me off using it as a wrap. However, I used it as a pizza base. I topped it with my favourite toppings and baked it for the recommended 14 minutes and MY GOD did it deliver. It was like a perfect thin crust pizza. I topped mine with passata, EatLean protein cheese and pepperoni with some rocket on the top. ABSOLUTELY DIVINE. And, all for less than 250 calories. LIVING THE DREAM. I couldn't taste a difference between normal thin crust pizza base and the Lo-Dough pizza base, a winner in my book! The finished product is pictured at the verrrry top of this post.
I'd also like to point out, Lo-dough doesn't necessarily have to be used as a pizza base, it could be used as a quiche base, a wrap or even a burrito holder- the world is your oyster! This product is also gluten, sugar and dairy free, high in protein and fibre and low in carb. It's also suitable for those who are vegetarian.
I'd definitely repurchase Lo-Dough, despite the price tag, and you can purchase Lo-dough exclusively from the Lo-dough website.
Have you tried Lo-Dough or another alternative? I'd love to know more!
XOXO Molly
