Girls Weekend.. In Coventry?

Wednesday 11 September 2019

On the lead up to the August bank holiday weekend, two of my best girls, Liv and Kerry, and I decided that we were long overdue a catch up. We live at opposite ends of the country so only get to see each other roughly once a year (all together). Usually we meet at someone's house and just chill and go out for dinner.

This time however, we decided to meet at a mid-point. The mid-point happened to be Coventry- a 2/3 hour drive/ train for all of us. None of us had been to Coventry before, so we booked a hotel and went for it.

We stayed at the Days Hotel, which was only a short walk into the City centre. Ideally located, a great price (£105 for a 3 bedroom room- worked out £35 each!) and included breakfast. The only thing I would note, is that although it's clean, the room we stayed in was particularly run down but more than adequate for the night we stayed. The staff were also super friendly, and happy to help with any requests we had.

I did some research beforehand, and had made us a reservation at Bayley Lane Kitchen (you can read my review here) for dinner, and the rest of the time was at our disposal.

Kerry and I went to Las Iguanas for lunch on the Saturday whilst we waited for Liv to arrive. We wanted somewhere quick, easy and somewhere we could enjoy a cocktail.

We went for a vanilla mai tai each (which was on a happy hour deal- woop woop!) and tapas. We initially wanted Fish Tacos and Calamari, but unfortunately they were all out. We did order a small feast which consisted of nachos, albondigas, honey peri-peri chicken wings, shredded duck tacos, gambas and halloumi skewers. Yum yum yum.

We met up with Liv and went back to the hotel for a catch up and to get ready to go out.

A few canned cocktails later, and three full faces of make up- we were ready to go out and we headed straight to Bayley Lane Kitchen. I won't go into full details, as I've written a full review- but it was LUSH.

We then headed across to the Cosy Club- a chain which I didn't think was up north?!- and had a few cocktails. I had a Blonde Sangria which I'd recommend to anyone!

The next day, we woke up fresh and prepared for a full day of shopping. It was SO hot that weekend, we melted into shops, coffee shops and pubs left, right and centre.

If I'm honest, there wasn't a huge amount to do in the city centre and because we had left our cars at the hotel whilst we wandered round in the day we couldn't do much exploring outside of the city centre. I'm sure there is lots to do, if you go exploring outside the centre.

I had a wonderful time catching up with the girls, and although there wasn't a lot to do, the company made the trip. I can't wait to see where our next catch up will take us!

Have you been to Coventry? What did you do? Where did you go?

I'd love to know!

XOXO Molly
